the polygons weren't the issue, it was the memory management. I dunno, but you'd think that moving to a system with MORE memory wouldn't be hard. Fix your damn PS2, post fucking haste. I need to go buy a new memory card so that I can hook up the memory card exploit for a buddy of mine. He needs to experience the joy of minimal load times.
