Another CES, another Windows embarassment. In the past 95 and 98 tanked on him, XP spit in his face BSOD'n after he said it wouldn't as USB was stable...

Well 4th or so times the charm again at the CES. This time running nothing more than a mediocre demo it took a big shit on him, at this time he was made fun of over it.

Here's the body of the article...

Microsoft's Gates endures PC crash during keynote speech at U.S. tech show

LAS VEGAS (AP) - Despite suffering through an embarrassing computer crash that prompted jokes and guffaws, Bill Gates promised that Microsoft Corp. would help consumers stay plugged into technology, during a keynote speech Wednesday.

In his seventh annual keynote speech at the International Consumer Electronics Show, Microsoft's chairman explained that the proliferation of high-speed Internet access and the falling price of data storage are compelling people to put music, photos, movies and other aspects of their life into a digital format.

"We predicted at the beginning of this decade that this would be a decade where the digital approach would be taken for granted," Gates told hundreds of technology enthusiasts, who gathered for his kickoff to the world's largest electronics show. "It's going even faster than we expected."

But while promoting what he calls the "digital lifestyle," Gates showed how vulnerable all consumers - even the world's richest man - are to hardware and software bugs.

During a demonstration of digital photography with a soon-to-be-released Nikon camera, a Windows Media Center PC froze and wouldn't respond to Gates' pushing of the remote control.

Later in the 90-minute presentation, a product manager demonstrated the ostensible user-friendliness of a video game expected to hit retail stores in April, Forza Motor Sport. But instead of configuring a custom-designed race car, the computer monitor displayed the dreaded "blue screen of death" and warned, "out of system memory."

The errors - which came during what's usually an ode to Microsoft's dominance of the software industry and its increasing control of consumer electronics - prompted the celebrity host, NBC comedian Conan O'Brien, to quip, "Who's in charge of Microsoft, anyway?"

Gates, who was sitting next to O'Brien on a set staged to look like NBC's Late Night set, smiled dryly and continued with his discussion.

Now watching it live thanks to a streaming web feed...now THAT'S fun. Recorded the whole show and then converted it to MKV so that you can jump around and seek and shit. If you want to, you can cut the part out that you want and upload it to the internets for shitholes like Ebaumsworld to pick up and watermark as if they capped it themselves.

Please note, it's strictly against Overburn's wishes to direct link the torrent file outside of the shack, which is why i linked the post instead. I'll be seeding this for the next 24 hours or so before I upload it to my webspace, so it'd be hot if ya'll jumped on and helped a nigah out.

(the part you biased assholes want to see is about an hour and 13 minutes into it)

I'll seed for awhile, but DC is raping my bandwidth right now. Ugh, and I'm only getting 8k or so coming down, so it'll be awhile with only 10-15 peeps on right now.

Biased me? Nah...that's chris's job. I just get tired of fucking blowhards who lie to the public and act like everything is fucking roses when it's not. So to see them eat a large bite of their own shit sandwich once in awhile is amusing (whether it's MS, Sony, whoever.)

Why are you asking me I don't work there. I helped out at one time, that backfired and caused me a shitload of problems I had to clean up, so the place is dead to me... ask atrkid the owner.

I've abadoned helping out any emulation related stuff anymore as it's not worth what comes of it every time I do. Currently I'm now a editorialist and game reviewer for an online gaming magazine, and I'm finding it a lot more entertaining, rewarding, and well 'sane' too.

Actually I was referring to MS's ads saying no more blue screen in Windows, they had one for Windows XP as well during the superbowl where they showed it on the screen and said something like 'take a good long look because you'll never see this again' or some crap. VmprHntrD is right, they do need to eat a shit sandwich.

They actually have the gall to taunt their users by saying they acknowledge how shitty their old software was and realized that this was peoples' daily routines but now they're SELLING you an update that they say sucks less because it's not as buggy as their old software! Well gee I'm ever so glad they decided to raise their standards! Now here's my money!

That's because MS replaced the typical BSOD with an application crash wizard (you know, with the "send info" button). While being better because it doesn't halt the entire system, it's just taken on a new form.

I meant you'd probably be seeing a lot more BSODs if it weren't for the fact that MS changed program exceptions to an error reporting system.

I suppose it's possible, since my iPod is the only FireWire device I own. It's not like it happens every time I turn the computer on; I just found it really odd and amusing that the only time XP ever shits itself is when I have my iPod (from Apple--We Make Software That Doesn't Crash) plugged in. In fact, it took all of 15 minutes for iPod and iTunes to blue screen my box after first install.

Well, yes, but that's because 98 (and 95 and ME, although I never touched an ME box to find out if it had a blue screen on the off chance that whatever ME had was transmissible through contact, like a cold) was a steaming pile of shit that didn't know how to recover from a serious program error. OTOH, I wouldn't even have this problem with 98, because 98 has sub-minimal FireWire support, and probably even less USB 2.0 support.
