Ballmer on the X-Box 2:

"When you see the new Xbox, you're going to think it's un -- well, let me say it politely -- unbelievable. Just unbelievable. The graphics, what it can do, the way things look, huge innovation. Rumors are that we'll see that product sometime soon. I couldn't comment, of course, on those rumors. But it's an amazing, amazing innovation."

No, really? I can't wait, all of that innovation! I believe it because you said it!

He spoke at a high school

I can't stop groaning...

Maybe I should stop looking at all of my gay pornographies. Lots and lots of porns.

First Bill Gates comes out a few days ago and says something like he's glad museums are around so you can see that other computer companies used to exist and now Ballmer drops this line:

"What is 'Halo 2?' It's the greatest video game ever written."

Just, wow, that should be an addendum to the definition of arrogance from now on. I don't think any one video game could correctly be coined greatest ever. Does he really and truly believe this?

I'd like to add Halo 2 is a heck of a lot of fun multiplayer...for about an hour. Then we're done with it for a few weeks.

I'm probably spoiled by having a lot of games I guess.

Their flagship products, Windows and Office, are flat.
Longhorn will be release __________ (fill in the date), and
few people have upgraded to any newer versions of Office
since Office 97.

He's so full of shit, but when you're that obscenely rich and arrogant you never (personally) notice.

XBOX2 will simply be say... 'Super Xbox' to the 'Super Nintendo' in 91. Same old shit in a prettier wrapper, except this one as it's disc media can't add chipped perks. *yawn*

They are famous for their pre-announcements. For the love of god, check out these timelines (the links are just there for reference, the stories aren't really important) but it doesn't sound like they care about backing up shit to me

Microsoft 1999: Announcing Trusted Computing!

Microsoft 2002: No, wait, announcing Palladium!

Microsoft 2003: No, wait, announcing Next Generation Secure Computing Base!

Microsoft 2003: Actually, we will only bring Level 1 of that in Longhorn...

Microsoft 2004: Oh, actually, nevermind... with uh NX and all that and uh... you know it's hard and uh... well...

Microsoft 2004: Actually no no, we are going to do it after all! We mean it this time!

----------

Microsoft 1993: Cairo is the shizzle everybody!

Microsoft 1994: Cairo will be the shizzle with our new Object File System!

Microsoft 1994: Cairo, including our Object File System is delayed, man!

Microsoft 1995: Cairo begins beta in 1996 or 1997! That means our Object File System technology and everything else we promised!

Microsoft 1996: Well, we'll have parts of Cairo

Microsoft 1996: We'll release it with NT 5.0 in 1997!

Microsoft 1997: Object File System still not in beta, ship MS Jet instead!!

Microsoft 1999: No more Cairo or NT 5.0, it's Windows 2000 now which will ship in 1999!

Microsoft 2000: Windows 2000 ships sans Cairo/OFS, at least 70% don't care, stick with NT

Microsoft 2002: Let's resurrect the Cairo Object File System idea for Longhorn!

Microsoft 2003: It will be called WinFS! Cairo now = WinFX (the Windows Foundation Libraries)

Microsoft 2004: WinFS will be one of the three fundamental pillars of Longhorn along with Indigo (network) and Avalon (presentation)!

Microsoft 2004: Wait, not everyone will use Longhorn, and programmers will have to program different applications for Windows XP and Windows 2003! Let's bring the Longhorn "fundamental pillars" to those OSes too!

Microsoft 2004: WinFS will ship separately from Longhorn...

Microsoft 2004: As will a lot of other things... After 2006. Over 13 years after it will have been announced. And we're serious this time!

Anyone remember this, eBay & .NET technologies = teh rawk!!!!!! and then eBay drops .NET passport...
