I actually found FF9 to be my least fav in the series. Had some memorable characters (Vivi rocks) but nothing else really stands out for me. Its the only game in the series that i never beat the optional bosses (Ozma) with the exception of FFX-2 which im still playing. Despite its crap story, i prefered FF8 (which most people bag on) cause the combat rocked, even if the draw system sucked.

And yes Xenogears has a great story, but once you get to disc 2 it feels more like a movie then a game, and Xenosaga is twice as bad.
