I was freaked out by the ads in Maximum PC, but I didn't have huge hopes going into this one. The ads started out with some shadowy figure in the background, finally culminating with a ring-like girl staring me down at the end of the mag. With the kick ass engine, then running down the first corridor with the little girl, and the shadow of the little girl raising an audible heartbeat, I was hooked. Even though it will be called formulaic, and is totally a Resident Evil/Doom/Half-Life(2) rip off, I thought it was great.

Yeah, I totally wasn't expecting that, and I peed myself. That was a great scare.

Riddick was okay, it got bogged down in the puzzle type seek and complete your mission bullshit, though it was pretty good. It didn't hold my interest enough to finish it. HL2 single player was great, the story was good, it seemed to blow its wad with the dog scripts (the part where he caused havok and jumped onto the ship was great) and then turned into a run of the mill 1984-esque thriller with a ton of blow-em-away filth at the end. Still, very very good.

At any rate, I'm much more excited for FEAR, I hope it can hold the same tension as the demo, which was great. Combine that with a spooky storyline and great graphics, albeit somewhat standard and cliched, it should be pretty good. I'm excited.
