I was in a french immersion program through grade school, where I was taught the "parisian" form of spoken french.
To this day I find it nearly impossible to understand what is being said by a Quebecquois. Ironnically I have often found it easier to understand francophones from northern africa, but this isn't always the case.
I have been to several places in Quebec and France, and aside from the fact that they are populated with human beings there are no real cultural overlaps that I would describe as being significant or unique to the french.
On the other hand, Quebec gave us poutine and chicks from Montreal are notoriously slutty. Though perhaps that last point is debatable. All the sluts from Montreal I've ever known are anglophones.
