i sang its praises when it was released for being faithful to the books [more than i thought possible] and entertaining [again, more than i thought possible]. it's a great movie, but i fear the sequel will be sloppy seconds as the best stories from the series have been used already.

but we'll see.

I thought you'd tear it a new one for its mainstreamedness. You usually hate what everyone else likes.

what everyone else likes generally sucks in the geeky sphere that we occupy- perhaps even worse than in traditional middle-american white trash culture. the counterculture of today bothers me more than the 'mainstream', at any rate. doesn't mean i don't recognize a good film when i see it, good music when i hear it, or a good book when i read it. i freely admit to liking the things i do, and i freely admit to loathing the things i loathe- i just like to use really strong terms to do so, because i'm a complete prick. if i dislike something that other people love, i'll talk about disliking it to show just how far superior to my supposed peers i am.

i looked in the mirror one morning and i said "i'm gorgeous".
