And the new Mana game looks disappointing as well. It looks like the original SoM was a mildly successful experiment and everything after that has been a sad attempt at recreating it. I will say I enjoyed SD3 and Secret of Evermore (as much as Roushi hates it :P, and as unrelated it is to Secret of Mana), but none as much as Secret of Mana.

I didn't like that one either. Played through almost all of it before I gave up from boredom. Just like LOM you get too strong or the enemies are too weak or whatever. The difficulty sucked so I just trashed the game.

Beyond Oasis - Genesis

Crusader of Centy - Genesis

Legend of Oasis - Saturn

Alundra - PSX

Shining Soul 1 and 2 - GBA

Secret of Evermore - SNES

Beyond Oasis is a good game. A little more action oriented than RPG (there are really very few complicated puzzles or anything, and the bosses are pretty easy).

Legend of Oasis seemed like more of the same, but I enjoyed the original, so I'll beat this when I get a chance.

Crusader of Centy was a nice little game, although a tad... corny. You might not like this one.

You could try Alundra, but I personally don't like the game. Not even because Working Designs brought it over either, just because it's a crappy ass action-adventure game with frustrating puzzles.

I haven't played either of the Shining Soul games, but I hear the second one is better overall.

Shit man, Evermore deserves a chance. Not really that great of a game, but hey it's worth a try if you haven't tried it yet.

I also enjoyed Illusions of Time (Illusions of Gia)

Terranigma

Enix on the SNES (Jap and Europe release only)

AMAZING RPG that never got the fanfare it should have. A must play, even by todays standards.
