And I guess you could play the Playstation version also, but supposedly the Saturn version is a lot better.

The Saturn Dead or Alive is based off of the Model 2 DoA (which is a dandy game, don't get me wrong) while the Playstation version is more of an upgrade (like Guilty Gear XX#Reload is to Guilty Gear XX; i belive it's sometimes refered to as Dead or Alive +) with additional characters, moves, and damage balancing. Most people shit talk it because the backgrounds are grossly inferior to the Saturn version's, but if you're picking which one to play based off of the backgrounds and not the core gameplay, then you're fucked in the head.

the Dead or Alive ++ emulated in Zinc is actually the upgrade to the playstation version of Dead or Alive with even more balancing and some additional moves, so it can pretty much be considered the best Dead or Alive 1 to play vs.

I believe the Xbox release was also based on the Model 2 version, so unless you're hankerin' for some retro action, don't even bother with it. Stick with either the Playstation version (a little on the uncommon side, but should be pretty cheap since the fanboys flock to the saturn version) or DoA++ in Zinc.
