I just felt like I was taken into a whorehouse, paid 100 dollars, and got my balls tickled then got kicked out the back door in my ass.

Only good part was Kelsey Grammer's character.

but i was surprised that, although everyone here thought it sucked, at imdb the score is mad high. most of us here tend to agree with the other fans on the worth of comic book/lotr/sci fi/etc action/fantasy films. what was different about this one?

i blame fanboys then.. the only reviewers that i read for new films are ebert & the guys at ruthless.. i read slasherpool & ispitonyourmovie for 'specialized' genre reviews.

ebert gave it a reasonably favourable review, but he generally does for action films, if they 'serve their purpose' (entertaining explosions).. that doesn't mean it is a quality film by a traditionalist's standards, of course.

i saw the first one back in the day, someone had the dvd and i was wasted. wasn't too bad, not my cup of tea, though.

It´s like someone thought "hey, let´s develop a ENDING to Xmen, since Magneto always is turning friend into foe, foe into friend of Xavier, and Xavier never reaches his humans-mutants dream, besised his students are always saving the world."

I didn´t hated it as much but hey, I´m thinking the same thing yet. WTF..

And the Phoenix (who should be the dark phoenix) scared me she looked like.. i dunno, something from Ringu

My major grievences:

1. Waste of potencially great supporting cast: The supporting cast, both brotherhood and x-men, is mostly there to add a sense of BIG numbers. BULLSHIT! Plus, they had ZERO character development.

2. Waste of major characters: WHAT THE FUCK WAS THE PHEONIX THERE FOR ANYWAY?! First, they had an ÜBER bullshit explanation for how the phoenix came to be, second, she was just there to kill off a couple of major characters (the first one for absolutly no good reason other than to clear off screen space for Ms. "huge ego" Berry, and also going completly against character motivation). Plus, killing off Charles was ridiculous. Even if it's the phoenix we're talking about here, he's supposed to be the most badass telepath in the world, you don't kill him off so easy (and the setup for the "extra" ending is too stupid to warrant any mention).

3. The "cure". Waaaaaaaay too easy of a plot device to get rid of the bulk of supporting cast members, and major ones too.

4. CORNY AS SHIT ENDING! I cannot forgive that ending in any way. A couple of mutants wipe out the entire alcatraz island, cause billions worth of damage, kill many dozens of people and after a few months we're supposed to believe everybody just accepted them, all is well in the world, everyone gets along, life goes on, all is forgiven, Xavier's dream comes true!
FUCK YOU! FUCK YOU IN YOUR FUCKING CORNY ASSES WITH A FUCKING CORNCOB!

5. Collossus and Iceman looked laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame. And that dragonball z-ish fight between iceman and pyro... i can't even describe how absurdly lame that is. I cryed out a loud "oh, come on!" at that point. Biggest cliché since the rising above clouds thing in Matrix revolutions.

Oh, and also, beast was laaaaaaaaaaaame and underused (and as everyone else, under-developed).

The two things i liked about it were the power displays. The bridge thing for instance. THAT'S magneto, not some pansy old fart that can be simply locked in a plastic cell.
Storm actually using her weather powers, not just remembering she had them when she was in danger.
And phoenix, albeit massively underused, obliterating things at a molecular level. Niiiice.

And the other, althought not quite what i would've loved to see, Collossus making a special throw with wolverine against a "sentinel" of sorts. They showed it in a pretty lame way, but, i can't not mention that.

Acting = 4/10
Plot = 2/10
Action = 8/10

Overall (not average) = 5/10

And as a reference, i'd give the first one 7/10 and the second 9/10

Seriously, i thought Singer's absence wouldn't make that much of a difference, given his confessed lack of knowledge of the x-men stories in general, but damn if his touch wasn't severely missing in here... What a fucking let down.

All work and no play makes me..., well, you know the rest.

They could have made it longer and develop the story a little more though, but still, I enjoyed it.

Oh and I never read any of the comic books, maybe that's why I liked it.

At least do the movie according to canon.

Avengers Unlimited cartoon had the Hulk picking up Thor's hammer via strength
- a major no-no.

The Juggernaut is not a mutant - he has invulnerability due to his headpiece,
which was magical in nature.

I'd rather go watch the DaVinci Code again.

I thought it was good.

Kelsey Grammer is the fucking man, and watching him do flips around poles and shit while kicking ass was awesome.

That was pretty fucked up with the Juggernaut though, that healing kid shouldn't have done fuck all to him.

I thought the cure was a decent plot, this shit doesn't really follow the comic books anyway - it just uses them as a starting point.

Iceman vs Pyro - yeah pretty gay. My wife was watching it with me, and even she said 'hadoken!' when they fired at each other.

The last bit between Wolverine and Phoenix (did they ever refer to her as Phoenix? I don't remember) was AWESOME - she keeps blasting his skin off (you can even see some metal bones underneath), and he keeps healing it back while he walks towards her - I thought that was incredible.

Nice ending with magneto trying to move the chess piece.

lol @ Beast "Oh my stars and garters..." - I think i read that line in the comic book somewhere - between issue 1 and 7, I think.

There were quite a few times when Jean Grey looked like a MAN. Or at least a tranny. I know Famke Jannsen is pretty hot (I probably watched Goldeneye 40 times), but jesus christ, they emphasized her face structure or something during the psycho parts. Very creepy.

What happened after the credits? I was watching a bootleg, and he cut off right as credits started - I'm told there's some extra shit? Someone explain.

Also, did anyone catch the "I'm the JUGGERNAUT, BITCH!" reference? I laughed my fucking head off!

"What the fuck? Charles?"
"NNNNNGGGAAAHHHHHHH!!!!"

Didn't I post that clip here a while back?

FOR THE WIN

Half-way through the second series of Nip Tuck, it's all going pretty well - you get to see Famke Janssen's breasts and she's boning a 16 year old boy (ah, every teenager's fantasy). Towards the end, however, it turns out she was a post-op transexual all along!
It's left me very conflicted.
