But if you like lager, you might like it. It's not worth extra money over any other beer. I used to like the 3.4% ABV Heineken, but now that it's all 5% (at least in the UK), I'm not a big fan. If you can get Carling, that's worth a try. Guinness is a very different taste (closer to bitter than lager, but not quite so bitter) - and is smoother from a proper beer pump than from a can. I like it.
I guess it depends on what you have available. Given a choice, I go for Guinness (even from a can, it's silky smooth), or Carling, but I'll stoop to Fosters if I have to.
I've heard good things about Starprommen (spelling might be off) and Hoegarden ... but can't see the attraction myself.
Buy a can/bottle of each type of beer you can. Drink cold, from a cool or cold glass. Bear in mind that every beer after the 6th will taste fantastic. Belgian beers are (generally) good - as are Czech, and a lot of Eastern European beers.
