I have a G500. I paid a little more than twice that for it three years ago, and I like it. It has nice, high refresh rates (800x600x150 Hz; 1024x768x144; 1280x960x100; 1600x1200x85; 2048x1536x72, which your card may not even reach), the picture is reasonably sharp (although I can see it struggling a bit around the edges at the extreme data rates), and as monitors go, it's 30 cm x 40 cm picture is LIEK OMG XBOX HUEG. I've been running it at 16x12 for the last couple of months, and 12x9 before that, and it's nice. In fact, it seems like anything lower than 12x9 is a waste (10x7 looks downdight lo-res, and you can count scanlines in 640x480). All that screen space does real good for CAD, and if you can crank it up to OMG resolutions, do it... you'll never go back (well, except if you're doing someting non-CAD). As far as gaming goes, it runs literally 28 different resolutions and aspect ratios between 320x200 and 2048x1536, which is something I've noticed LCDs don't like. The only downside to it is that that FD Trinitron tube is LIEK OMG XBOX HUEG and it weighs a fucking ton. Really, the only two ways I would go with an LCD is if you could pick up something with comparable screen size for less (good luck, and you still won't get the same resolution), or if space is a real issue.
