Now I know why everyone loves a modded xbox. It really is way better than playing emulators on my computer. It actually feels like I'm playing the original games. Yeehaw. So I posted up the pics you can see here and you can read about it here.

The Xbox can shoot out the image to your television a crap load better than your PC, the emulators can usually setup the resolution and aspect ratio correctly, too. When I had a modded Xbox I totally ditched playing emulators on my PC.

I'd like to have another modded Xbox but it had a difficult time running the more demanding games in MAME, like the Mortal Kombat games. Maybe if I wait a while, the 360 will be modded and capable of running the more demanding MAME games.

Xbox Media Center, the best goddamn thing ever for the xbox. At least half the time my xbox is running, it's running xbmc. What is it? You guess it, a media center. Simple, sharp looking, nice options... Once you have your xbox on your home network, share a couple of folders on your computer, then you can watch any movie you have on your tv. You thought the image was clean with emus, it's as clean with videos, and you can set the screen size so you won't miss anything -> overscan. There's almost always someone watching a movie when I get home, playing from the xbox, the movie on my hd. Btw, it supports every codec you can think of. The only thing I don't like about it is actual dvd support which could be better.

It also tells you the temperature via the weather channel, you can display pictures (great for showing friends pics on a big screen tv), play music and show the milkdrop vis, even on shoutcast (but the server browser could be better), watch trailers, etc...

just get it

But now I can't fix the aspect ratio on the playback. Stuck on 4:3.

Appearance -> Resolution (mine is PAL 16:9)
Settings -> My Videos -> Auto Widescreen Switching (On)

and then when playing a video, you can set the zoom level for that video...
