Ok I did it before in my chipped xbox with a xenium ice and it was incredibly easy, so easy that I used my xbox to switch a softmodded xbox hd.

But here's the question: On a softmodded xbox, can we put a hd bigger than 120gb?

I did exactly as this tutorial said and I still get the error 13 screen.

tutorial

I burned an xiso that I created in Quix to boot EvolutionX with but it never boots. I had the correct files, I updated the ini accordingly, I put a dummy file on the boot disc and I burned 3 discs by 2 different manufacturers. Still can't boot. What the fuck.

"13 - kernel - Dashboard launch fail (due to missing/bad key, or anything else that would prevent it from running) and the dashboard didn't specify why it failed.

The error it gives is because of the incompatibility between the (older) dashboard (4920) that older slayer cd installs and the new dashboard/kernel versions found in some new xbox's and found in xbox's that have been connected to xbox live (when you go on xbox-live, it'll upgrade your dashboard file to i believe it is now 5659.03. This dasboard is incompatible with the dash that (old) slayer cd installs (for example 2.5 or lower) for you.

(In detail, in the eeprom chip there is a kernel which is incompatible with the dashboard (4920) that slayer installs.)

So what do you do to fix it? You can use the dashupdate found on most new xbox games! Be sure to 1st unplug your ethernet cable before you do so!!!

Besides that, just use a good installation disc and all is fine. Use a 2.6 slayer or something similar"

That is why your dash won't boot. Get a newer version of EvoX and I think it should work. If it was a media (cd-r/dvd-r) problem, the chip/softmod would eventaully boot the MS dash after not finding evox.xbe, avalaunch.xbe, xbmc.xbe, etc.

You can't normally put a HD bigger than a certain size in a chipped Xbox, unless your chip specifically supports it (e.g. Xecuter3) ... except that you can, you just have to partition it into smaller chunks. So I reckon you can probably do the same with a soft-modded box.

I'm pretty sure any bios out there now already supports lba48 and can handle drives over 137gigs. You had to patch the bios for it before, but those days are long gone. Even if your bios doesn't support lba48, it would still detect the drive, but only 137gigs of it would be usable.
