I've been trying to get my xbox to work with a new HDD. Despite following the walkthru step for motherfucking step it didn't work. So I decided to try a different installer to see if it had some magic that could fix my problems. I removed the softmod I had and went and downloaded something that seemed more recent, Auto-Installer Deluxe. I was hoping it would patch my bios with something that would allow me to boot into a setup disc because apparently Krayzie's NDure installer didn't give me that magic ability.

Despite the fact that it sounds like it's easy to use it's actually a flaming piece of shit. I used the backup feature to cover my ass or so I thought. When I chose to backup it flashed on the screen for roughly 2 seconds. Wow that was remarkably fast. First menu option; install softmod. Check. Second menu option; install evolution x. Check. Restart. ERROR ERROR ERROR FUCK FUCK FUCK. No big deal. I'll just load my backups. The backup flashes for half a second as if nothing was written. Even more errors.

So now I'm desperately trying to build this machine again because it's so fucking screwed. Auto-Installer Deluxe is a piece of shit. I had a fresh system, I followed the manual, I did very simple menu options and it completely dropped a flaming ball of dragon shit onto my xbox. My original XBOX HDD is now brutally corrupt. I'm a xbox hacking retard and I managed to shoot myself in the foot.

Don't worry, there's a solution, something like this happened to me before. You will be able to plug the xbox hd on your computer and put the necessary files on it so it can boot properly. Yes, I know it's locked but there's a way to plug it on your computer anyway, unlocked, quite risky procedure but it works.

Anyway, I'll give you some more info another time, I'm drinking an Orval so I'm quite busy eh ;)

Saw something about that. I still have the eeprom and HDD password or whatever so I should be covered. I'm downloading the Slayers 2.6 FINAL as it has the MS dash system files that I may have inadvetantly trashed. After that I'm restoring the original xbox HDD and then using the new HDD. I found some tool that supposedly is easy to build xbox HDDs with.

Look for a little linux distro called xboxhdm, that, along with one of the soft-hack auto-installers will lead you right.

Had a good backup and the xboxhdm got me all hooked up with that shit. I think I upgraded to a bigger drive that's slower. Whatever. I'm happy again.

PS. How do you play game ISOs off the HD?

How the fuck do you burn an xbox iso?! I've tried a few different medias now and every single burning program they suggest. The one thing though is that the DVDs have been +R and I'm seeing people on the craxtion forum saying that -R is what you need. Anymore helpful words on the matter?

Xbox Tool (my favourite) to extract the ISO directly to your Xbox hard disk over FTP...
