In FireFox:

  • Type "about:config"

  • Set network.http.pipelining to “true”

  • Set network.http.proxy.pipelining to “true”

  • Set network.http.pipelining.maxrequests to "8"

  • Right-click anywhere and select New->Integer.
    Name it nglayout.initialpaint.delay and set the value to “0″.

This is supposed to make FireFox a little bit quicker. It worked for me.
