Yeah, i have been on a real 8 bit kick lately.
I was on vacation for the last 20 days, and in said time, i finished pretty much all of my 8bit games (no roms, no save-state, just plain old-school button mashing), with the infamous exception of Ninja Gaiden III (Jap) and Ikari Warriors (Usa) on the NES, Black Belt, Wonder-Boy III on SMS.

Now, in this retro-voyage, i got to discover some really fun games, i have never seen before :

B-Wings for NES : A fun little shooter, where you fly a space ship. Really cool weapons system (especially for the time) and creative backgrounds and layout for such a small game (it is mapper #0, i think)).

Hyper Olympics for NES : 2-player, button mashing love, right here. REally simple, almost atari like, but with classic 8 bit looks and sound. Me and friend, must have spent at least 10 hours on this 4 games-game.

Other NES GEMS include : Mag Max (wtf?, fun shooter), Geimos , Super Dynamix Badminton and others.

A friend bought a 106-in-1 cart. With some of these games on. And i bought a 49-in-1 cart with the rest of it.

On his 106-in-1 there´s a Contra version. No konami logo. And with konami code always enabled.
Weird, but not even close as weird as my 4-in-1 hacked pokemon cart for nes. heh.

Anyyyyway, anyone on a 8bit kick lately ?
Have some stuff i might consider playing ?

And hopefully not even HALF as hard as Castlevania I ?

The grim reaper always fucks me and I loose interest in playing after 20 continues. Fuck that game is hard.

I've been playing rescue: the embassy mission and top gun a bit on the NES, as well as a bit of family fun fitness on my power mat for the NES.

Use the cross boomerang against Dracula after he morphs.

Throw holy water against the far right platform as he first comes down. It will stun him so just keep throwing it.

Use the holy water all the way, except for the first boss (axe), and for drac's first form (boomerang) if you can't kill it with your whip only. The holy water is pretty useful against his second form, it'll freeze him giving you enough time to whip it, whip it good.

The holy water works better than the axe, you don't have to worry about getting hit at all. Stay close to the double block, the one where you break to get the II or III, wait until the bat dives down toward you then throw you holy water onto the blocks. It's stunned until it's dead.

get under and throw those axes. Pretty damn simple, you get the axe right before the bat and a 2x block when you get to it.

I haven't played it in 10+ years. I died because of the Medusa heads in the second level and I kept accidentally picking up the wrong items.

The axe is better for most players.
