From what I've read, the video encoder in the current 360s doesn't support digital output at all. Thats why they only have a DVI-A cable instead of DVI-D or DVI-I. They needed new hardware to support HDMI which is why we're only seeing it now.
I don't really need the larger hdd right now. I don't see much of a use for it unless you load a lot of music on there or download a lot of tv shows. Movies don't matter much since they're rentals anyway and get deleted in 48 hours or whatever.
The black case does look nice though. I've been looking at replacement cases and see some glossy black ones for about $45, which includes a dvd bezel replacement that the Elite doesn't come with.
