If new products weren't forced on people no body would buy them. We would be riding in steam powered cars because gas is expensive and everyone would tune in to the radio station and imagine a good night. Every OS that comes out is always shit on for the first year or so. XP was the exact same way when 98 was still around. just give it time and vista will become what XP is today. not saying its wrong to bitch though. i tried vista and i loved it, i like the littles things they improved. rewrote the games, including some kiddy games for the younger folk. allowed microsoft supported widgets on the desktop (take xp and throw window blinds on it and see what happens for sys performance) the only thing that really bugs me is the whole lock down of the hard drive and issues with dual booting. gaming and software incompatibility is to be expected in my book
