But i gotta agree, the whole buddy shit was WAY over the top. The Sandman redemption was nicely done, but the Harry team up was crap. Not only does that detract from the character's drive but it makes Spiderman look like a fucking pansy. What? He couldn't take on two villains at once? Doesn't anyone remember the goddamn sinister six? Spidey could take on half a dozen villains working as a team, this movie makes him seem like a bitch.
And i gotta tell you, i've loved how well Sam Raimy has directed the movies so far, but for fuck's sake, could he STOP FUCKING KILLING OFF EVERY MAJOR VILLAIN!!!!!!! Norman i understand, it's cannon, but Doc Ock was wasted and killing off Venom is simply inexcusable, specially when he's such a great character and was so absurdly underused. That was as bad as Tim Burton killing off the Joker, only it wasn't as memorable a scene.
My other gripes: Emo Peter = bad Clark Kent hairdoo Peter = good
Give me a fucking break. That's just a huge slap in the face of the audience saying "hey, we think you're idiots and can't grasp the inner conflict of the character, so we created this nifty way for you to know when to cheer and when to jeer." What the fuck, it's a movie, not a goddamn talkshow. I don't need an applause cue. The same can be said for Brock's "teeth". Over the top.
And jeezus fucking christ, i though that the Robo-Goblin was bad, but the Goblin Jr. was a disgrace... Might as well been the green surfer.
I liked it a lot, good overall portrail of the character, but like you pointed out, it's suffering from a serious excess of characters per movie. You don't have the screen time to develop them all and it ends up feeling half assed.
All work and no play makes me..., well, you know the rest.
