My biggest regret is that nobody has a working RG posting account to report on the front page what is perhaps THE most awaited news in emulation since the CPS2 drama. Sure, it's been so long that the games are now available elsewhere. And emulation is not completely working yet. But I'm still elated by the news.
I can tell from playing SF3, Warzard and Jojo that these fighting games are something else. More refined, more mature. Sure we've all played fighters to death, but playing these again, even vs. the CPU, is still a lot of good fun. I find them more enjoyable than many CPS2 titles, but maybe it's because I haven't played them much outside of arcades.
But you know, the nice thing for me of all this is that it shows how far emulation has gone. The ROMs have been available for a while so we don't see the drama of hoarders and beggars that plagued us during the Neogeo and CPS2 days (I do miss the flame wars and general mayhem that animated these boards though).
It's also great that one guy decided to attack the decryption and the established coders ponied up time to get it working, and the impressive speed at which everything went. Hats off to Elsemi to post his working emu instead of hyping it up (though I don't remember Elsemi ever pulling a drama move - might be wrong, correct me if so).
I lost one of my old jokes though. "CPS3 Emulation Next Month!"
