SubjectSo I'm playing CPS3 new Reply to this message

And I could care less. I've had access to all of those games outside of Warzard since the DC and I didn't care for them then either. I'm not saying that this isn't cause for celebration and I give huge props to all the peeps that made it possible but...I just never really got into the CPS3 games and I don't see that changing now.

I will say that after all these years I still get horned out for Chun Li. That I'm taking to the grave.

There's quite a large difference between the two!

I'm jazzed about playing the Jojo games again. I hadn't played those in a long, long time and I remember having a good bit of fun with 'em.

I just don't care enough to spend any significant time playing CPS3 games. I stopped having fun with fighters when I had no one else to play with. I need a human opponent.

Meh, I'll probably occasionally play SF3 while I'm bumming out at my computer but other than that I'm not really excited. At least with the older CPS systems there were tons of games that I never got to play in the arcades. CPS3 is just kinda good for SF3 and that's it. I wore that junk out on the Dreamcast.

i feel stupid playing sf(whatever) against the machine.

Also, the only reason why i might be interested in cps3, is to be able to play sf3:3rd strike with a friend with arcade controls.
other than that, been there, done that, my dc still works.

but hey, at least we´re seeing some action on this board.

My biggest regret is that nobody has a working RG posting account to report on the front page what is perhaps THE most awaited news in emulation since the CPS2 drama. Sure, it's been so long that the games are now available elsewhere. And emulation is not completely working yet. But I'm still elated by the news.

I can tell from playing SF3, Warzard and Jojo that these fighting games are something else. More refined, more mature. Sure we've all played fighters to death, but playing these again, even vs. the CPU, is still a lot of good fun. I find them more enjoyable than many CPS2 titles, but maybe it's because I haven't played them much outside of arcades.

But you know, the nice thing for me of all this is that it shows how far emulation has gone. The ROMs have been available for a while so we don't see the drama of hoarders and beggars that plagued us during the Neogeo and CPS2 days (I do miss the flame wars and general mayhem that animated these boards though).

It's also great that one guy decided to attack the decryption and the established coders ponied up time to get it working, and the impressive speed at which everything went. Hats off to Elsemi to post his working emu instead of hyping it up (though I don't remember Elsemi ever pulling a drama move - might be wrong, correct me if so).

I lost one of my old jokes though. "CPS3 Emulation Next Month!"

Model 1 is pretty much done, Model 2 is looking hot, CPS3 progress has been brisk lately, GNet is booting now, Model 3 improvements are still getting added every now and then, etc. Most of the stuff I used to play in arcades has been added to MAME by this point or is in the pipeline, with very very few exceptions.

I'd love to see Battle of the Solar System tackled at some point and it'd be interesting to be able to run Power Sled on my PC. Rail Chase 2 would be neat, too (oddly enough, I played Rail Chase 2 well before I ever got a chance to play the first game).

I finally got around to buying the sf2 anniv. collection on the ps2 less than 9 months ago, and it was the first time i've touched sf3 in about 8 years. and the game is incredible. the ps2 pad pissed me off, and to be honest, i have better luck playing with a keyboard. I guess i'll just have to wait a little while longer to play it with a super duper 2xsai 75%scanline blitter. But I'm impressed. Props to Haze, El Semi & everyone else involved.

Now, if only he'd reopen the cps board for old time sakes.

On the PS2 they really screwed up the screen proportions or something, the graphics look nasty. I think the DC had that stuff straight, though. If I still had my DC and the VGA box that junk would possibly look good on my TV.

I like to have a nice emulated version of games so for those 15 minutes that I play it I enjoy the clean, unraped graphics.

IIRC the PS2 and Xbox versions are arcade accurate as far as gameplay goes while the DC version had some interesting quirks (akin to when they didn't bother correcting the hitbox discrepancies from the PS1 version when they ported it back over)
