Not quite the same thing happened to me many years ago, but it was still scary.
After the event, I went to the local pawn shop, bought a gun, took the required courses in the proper use of a gun, the ngot a license to carry the weapon on me in public.
The assholes that robbed you are really cowards, and they go after what they perceive to be easy marks. Showcase the heat and they will give you a wide berth, because they don't want to engage anyone that will be able to fight back.
