SubjectWhat do you do on your down time? Reply to this message

When you aren't working, going to school, fighting with your significant other, what do you do to relax? These days it's getting buzzed, playing some Counter Strike and then relaxing with the GBA to play Zelda: Minish Cap (or anything else on the GBA because it's the best game system to come out in forever).

SubjectWatching movies... new Reply to this message

I'm working part-time as an english teacher now and still studying to try and pass a test to get into a public health job. And to boot, i'm taking Italian lessons (one of the freebies of the school i work in, you get to take classes in other languages for free).

And since my computer is missing a video card at the moment, both because i'm broke at the moment since i already had to spend over R$700 just to get this bitch running again (new mobo +RAM +cpu +case) and don't really feel like getting a video card that will barely hold up games made 4 years ago when there's a new generation about to come in less than 3 months, i've turned to movies.

With that in mind, i also bought a dvd player with divx playback and am trying to work down my backlog. I must have over 60 movies i downloaded a whyle ago and haven't touched yet.
I'm also meaning to watch a couple of cartoons i nabbed the full runs to.

Thundercats - Mega Awesome, i'm planning to watch at least two episodes a day of that.
Batman the Animated Series - Best Comic book based cartoon EVER. My only gripe is that the DVDs were released with the episodes in airing order, which was completly and utterlly fucked up in regards to cronological order. There's even episodes that are a direct continuation of the other that are fucking 5 episodes apart! Assholes.
Swat Katz - Damn cool, just finished watching it this week. Fucking shame they only had such a small run.
Naruto - I'm kinda on the fence about catching up with this. I stopped watching some 2 years ago, back in episode 140something, when the main story was actually happening. I heard that up untill this whole Naruto Shipuuden thing started, it's all been cheese filler.

I do miss gaming though. Fucking shame, i can't even play Morrowind or Paikiller at more than 20fps. I think i'll dig up some REALLY old shit to pass the time when i don't feel like being a passive observer to a movie.

All work and no play makes me..., well, you know the rest.

Past few days it's been too hot to do anything. Usually my friends BBQ. Watch movies. Play with the dog. I cooked some chili the other night. Go to concerts. Ride the bike. Think of ways to get whitey.

Let's see what I'll do this weekend then. 3 day weekend, it sure has been a while. First, I'll get me a beer in the next couple of minutes so

#1 priority - BEER

In fact, sunday I'll be going at a beer fest, hurray!

Video games are always welcome. I got Blue Dragon but I haven't touched it yet because I'm hooked on Bioshock, both on the 360. As for watching dvd, I borrowed a set from my boss, Titus, greatest sitcom ever made. Got the 3 seasons.

Then there's my "significant other" as you say that will be moving in this weekend and have a party with some girls. Yep, our relationship is doing great!

Now, time for beer... hm, hungry, pizza... WIN

I've been working out a lot more in the last few months, but I've also been spending my down time mowing through games. My PS2 backlog scares the piss out of me and there are still a few Gamecube games I'd like to play through this year. I'm about a quarter of the way through my Xbox collection.

Right now I'm suffering through Harmony of Dissonance. It's probably the worst Castlevania I've played yet (and I've played a large bulk of the series) :(

Well, apart from that...

Read. For some reason, I've been on a massive reading kick lately and am going through Robert Heinlein and Ray Bradbury at a massive rate.

I'll usually spend some time tinkering with the Jeep, but we've been having +/- 100degF weather here the last few weeks, so fuck that noise until October. Same for going shooting: all the enthusiasm's there, but I just flat-out don't want to spend all day in the heat.

Boozing & whoring's always a larf.

Been cleaning up a bunch of half-finished technical projects, too - trying to figure out why the upgraded MAME cabinet kernel panics when insmodding ndiswrapper; fixing the seriously assed-up MOSIX cluster, etc.
