It's when the AI cheats. I seriously go berserk over that shit. I'm playing NBA Hangtime and once you hit the 4th quarter it's not uncommon to have the AI just go crazy. You try and dunk, they block you every time or run up behind you and push you over. You suddenly can't steal from them and your pushover doesn't work. They hit every single fucking three point shot. Meanwhile your AI buddy just turns into a total retard and just stands there and does nothing. I swear to christ, I got so pissed after getting raped in overtime that I was ready to fucking kill whoever designed that shit. The same thing happens in NBA Jam. College Slam still has the lame push-over move (no one clued Midway in on what fouls are), but at least it stays pretty fair.

Reminds me of some of the EA racing games with the rubber band gameplay. Drive a perfect lap? Too bad. Watch as your opponent suddenly appears right on your ass once you get near the finish line.

F-Zero was the first game I could really remember thinking, "fuck man, the computer is a cheap ass rubber banding faggot".

Damn right on both EA and Nintendo, throw in Namco too with Ridge Racer.

Nintendo always had F-Zero seem kinda like that, but got insane with it from N64 on which was sad. What really pissed me off though as it wasn't expected was Mario Kart. After the N64 one you couldn't on 50cc lap the others anymore as everytime you got X distance so far they'd all drive like they were on nearly super mushroom speed despite NOT using them. The worst offender of the lot though was/is the DS release which is just disgusting. On 150cc the game is nearly unbeatably bad in that it's programmed to put someone in 1st running mushroom turbo the entire time w/out using (but then can use one on top for a killer boost) while you're in 2, and 3-end all and ONLY bomb the shit out of YOU. I quit playing the game at that rate because between that and the snake cheating shit online there was no fun left until I want to blink it and do 50/100cc again.

I wish people in racing games would just FUCKING GET IT! Make the smarts of the AI smarter, don't just give rubber band AI and malicious singling out only on YOU attacks and call that abusive shit a challenge as it's not...it's aggravatingly cheap ass shit.

You can actually see the opponent's 'dot' disappear, and jump ahead on the map. Big N didn't even try to hide it.

I still loved the game though.

True but also with F-Zero they never set any expectation other than that happening from day one. Mario Kart SNES/n64 played 'fair' it was only after they felt like being lazy sluts with it out went smart AI and in came the big rubberband of cheap ai. I'm nearly done with the series, and if the Wii one continues the level of rude suck the DS one has it's going on my blacklist right with Megaman who I've written off and Kirby too. I refuse to financially support shitty games like that.
