Damn right on both EA and Nintendo, throw in Namco too with Ridge Racer.

Nintendo always had F-Zero seem kinda like that, but got insane with it from N64 on which was sad. What really pissed me off though as it wasn't expected was Mario Kart. After the N64 one you couldn't on 50cc lap the others anymore as everytime you got X distance so far they'd all drive like they were on nearly super mushroom speed despite NOT using them. The worst offender of the lot though was/is the DS release which is just disgusting. On 150cc the game is nearly unbeatably bad in that it's programmed to put someone in 1st running mushroom turbo the entire time w/out using (but then can use one on top for a killer boost) while you're in 2, and 3-end all and ONLY bomb the shit out of YOU. I quit playing the game at that rate because between that and the snake cheating shit online there was no fun left until I want to blink it and do 50/100cc again.

I wish people in racing games would just FUCKING GET IT! Make the smarts of the AI smarter, don't just give rubber band AI and malicious singling out only on YOU attacks and call that abusive shit a challenge as it's not...it's aggravatingly cheap ass shit.
