It's for reading, or monitoring email. It has a 23ms refresh time (doh! ;) But the main reason I got it is to have strategy guides/FAQs up while playing games. My 19" Trinitron is serving me well for gaming.

For me, it was economically a no brainer. Strategy guides with pics/maps > text any day. Unfortunately, that FF III strategy guide is ~$40 on ebay not including shipping. This monitor was $65 shipped, so I couldn't pass it up.
