SubjectGH3 on PS3 new Reply to this message
Posted byChachiSqrPants

Just reserved my copy at the local Gamestop, and amidst all the Halloween partying, I'm going to pick it up ~Midnight. Kick ass.

Do you guys know if I can play the older GH games on PS3 with the new guitar? Then I can get rid of my PS2. The older PS2 guitars I can't get working very well on the PS3.

Hopefully they come out with add on PS3 guitars quickly, so I don't have to wait like the XBox crowd...

The fucking achievements on the 360 version are fucking ridiculous... one of them being beat one of the game developers in an online battle... what the fuck! I hate achievements that have to be completed online fucking retarded... sorry for off topic to your questions but i beat the ps2 version on medium and hard already and now i am debating on buying an xplorer controller for my 360 for the extra download able tracks.

That's crazy. I'm sure the PS3 version has something similar... I just don't want there to be too much of that silly unlocking stuff, like multiplayer unlocking and whatnot. I mean, I have the occasional GH party to unlock stuff, but not all the time...

I'm still stuck on Freya on Expert, so I don't think I'll be able to be a developer.

The GH3 comes with a new guitar that is not compatible with the previous 2 games.

Both the 360 and PS3 have somewhat abandoned each of their previous systems whereas the Wii plays gamecube games and emus stuff older than that. That puts in on par with the Atari 7800 and the PS2, the other backwards compatible systems I can think off off the top of my head. How many Xbox games lack compatibility still? And the PS3 took out the PS2 "innards" entirely.

Nintendo is plenty wrong for the Wii controller situation, don't get me wrong, I am just saying every system is doing this kind of stuff now.

I remember people being miffed when they couldn'tbring over their NES cartridges to the next level.

I love how Harmonix is openly welcoming third party attachments for Rock Band. Goes to show who the real cocksuckers were the whole time (Red Octane). The entire Guitar Hero series peripheral confusion is a complete fucking mess...just like pretty much every other aspect of the series handled by the publisher.

It's a shame most people will probably still prefer to pick up Guitar Hero since its a franchise they're familiar with rather than stick with the same developer's. Still, I think it's pretty funny how much Activision paid for the Guitar Hero name instead of the talent.

But they know how to pound the shit out of your wallet with accessories. Wii Play has been one of the best selling games of the decade not because it's a fun and enthralling game but that it comes with the Wiimote. They are masters of selling add-on, peripheral junk to the point of absurdity.

At least in my country Wii play + remote is $10 cheaper than the remote on it's own. It doesn't make any sense.

If you have a PS3, you're fucked and have to buy new controllers; the official ones don't work. If you have the original games, you can't play them on the PS3 with the new guitar either, so you'll probably wind up having 4 god damn guitars kicking around (in addition to needing to have your PS2 hooked up to properly play the games anyway because of the bullshit third party controller security that those hackjobs at Red Octane put in there to fuck consumers over).

If you're on a 360, you're probably used to getting fucked in the ass on overpriced downloadable song packages. Can't wait to see how they manage to rape GH3 owners and make 'em like it. It's not horse armor-bad, but it's still pretty fucked up.

If you've just got a PS2 then you should be ok. I think. Who knows? Let's hope it doesn't suffer from screen tearing this time around.

Alright, so maybe I'm at home, dressed up like a zombie, lit up to hell and gone after getting my midnight copy of GH3 for PS3, but THE FUCKING TIMING IS WAY OFF!!! This is terrible. It's like I have to learn to play all over again. Maybe everything will be better in the morning, but from what I read, probably not.

Got that damn right... $40 for the controller, or +$10 gets you like 9 mini-games (some which are quite good) and you just can't pass that up (I didn't.)

And then the zapper bit...genius! $25 gets you the controller lock-on and then a full scale Zelda FPS of sorts with multiple game modes. Basically the game goes between an on rails bit like Killer 7 on cube and then a hogan's alley type target shooter as well (and there's more too I never looked up.) Also smart is that there are many games to instantly back it up and on a good price scale. With MOH Heroes 2 is a full scale included light gun shooter game mode for free, Sega has 'Ghost Squad' which is the next virtua cop coming for just $30, and then for $40 you get the Resident Evil game as well all within like 2 weeks of the gun popping up. Very smart move and smartly priced as well.

Figures. How else can they make their $80-90?

I just saw the game for the 3 systems at various outlets today when I went to nab Zack & Wiki and also Victorious Boxers Revolution for the Wii. Both are good fun, but Z&W already shows a high level of pure quality genius I haven't seen in a good while.

There's an achievement for finishing the game on hard or expert with the standard controller. Finally, someone thought about me, yay. I'm stuck on the final boss however.
