Looks to be Psycho Pinball

If you're a fan, I'd also recommend Extreme Pinball (my personal fave). It came out on the PSOne in 1995 too, but the load times were... ass... to say the least. Great game though (I even took my time with a MOD sequencer to rip/re-assemble the tracks for the 'Rock Fantasy' table... mmm... yummie with it's spinning Earth/globe ball)

Extreme pinball was good indeed.

I remember, I had a lot of pinball games and me and my father would play them a lot, especially him. He actually broke one of my keyboard's spacebar to make the machine tilt.

Other old pinball games I can remember: Epic Pinball, Silverball, Pinball Fantasies (A+). My father has been able to make the score go back to zero in stones and bones. Hm... now that I think about it, my parents just got themselves a new computer, actually one like mine minus the geforce and extra ram and extra hd. Pinball MAME would run great on that rig now (used to have an old k6-2 450mhz).

Extreme Pinball is really good too, but i think Psycho Pinball is my favorite ever.
Along with Pinball Fantasies (which was pretty good) but Psycho Pinball just took it to another level.

I used to play a lot of Epic Pinball on my 386, then i upgraded to a 486 with Pinball Fantasies, but after Psycho Pinball came along, it was my choice.

The multi-table game is awesome.

here is the only live link I could find. Not sure if it's the shareware or full version as the speed of the dl seems to highly vary. I'm personally thinking about buying it off of amazon or ebay (PC version) being that the PSOne version just takes so long to load and the PC version is like $0.69 ;)

Playing in in DOSBox (1024x768 fullscreen OpenGL stretch as D3D has major performance issues) is f'ing amazing. Tiny stutter or glitch here or there, but with some tweaking, it will be perfect. Not too bad for a 2.77ghz E4400. This is the first time I've tried DOSbox out and I'm whole heartedly impressed.

Now, whenever I get one of those Yorkfield Quadcore 45nm chips and OC it to the around 4.5ghz on air that people have been getting... this thing will be as smooth as silk and 10x better than ever actually playing in DOS. F'ing amazing.

With very little tweaking I can play damn near every DOS game that I used to love and without the need to have a shit load of multi boot config disks. Shit that would be a pain in the ass to run like System Shock, Wing Commander 2 and Terra Nova work without a problem. Hell, I can even run Under a Killing Moon in DOSbox now a days on my E6600 @ 2.4Ghz. Mental note: Fire up Pandora Directive.

If you want to have some real fun, play with the video recording function and make some videos for YouTube. Also, make sure you use FRAPS to snag screenshots if you're custom setting your resolution to match your screen's native res or else DOSbox will snag the shots at the game's resolution and without whatever filters you have applied.

I keep a copy of DOSbox on my thumbdrive w/ the Commander Keen series...just in case. :)

well, my dad had a 33mhz 486 laptop that could do 16 colors that eventually got upgraded to a 166mhz pentium laptop, but those I could only use for word processing. I was basically a SNES junky.

My first real PC was a 233mhz K6 / Matrox Mystique 220 4mb PCI card (which had shitty VESA2 support and required SciTech Display Doctor to get anything to run well). By that point, everything was mostly Windows9x based.

The only PC games I ever really played were on friends PC's so that's why I really haven't dabbled too much. Any recommendations on what to check out?

I've been using ScummVM for those Lucas Arts point & click games which are awesome, but as far as what PC games to check out, I just have no idea other than the few I played back in the day.

Hey I can vouch for Pinball Fantasies and it's companion Pinball Dreams. I was so addicted to those in the DOS days that when I learned about 3 years ago they were put on the Gameboy Advance in the UK I imported the sucker... way way worth it, and found a deal so it cost me the same as a local buy. The only flaw was UbiSoft were cheap cunts and knowingly released the game without the battery after promising the developer there would be one. If you use the game on a flash cart, it saves scores, own a real and they're gone. It's still so worth having and it plays just as nicely as on PC. Go get NO$GBA or something good and nail down that ROM. It's called PINBALL CHALLENGE DELUXE.

Well, there are a shitload of good DOS games, but i donīt know what you like or not.
So, i will just throw some names out, okay ?

Stunts : must have game. The original stunt driving game, with a suberb and easy to use track editor. hard to master, easy to learn, must have.

Raptor : Call of Shadows : 2-D Vertical Shump. Really good, clever level design +upgrade ship through buying parts.

Tyrian (or Tyrian 2000) : 2D Vertical Shmup, Awesome level design, awesome graphics, awesome OST, awesome upgrade system (buying ships AND parts) and a shitload of easter eggs and replay value.

The Dig : Lucasarts Point and Click game, but iīm not sure if this is a SCUMM game.

Tie Fighter : Play as the evil galatic empire to blast the rebel scum, simulator as far as it can be, i guess, REALLY good.

Dark Forces : First SW FPS evar. Enough said.

Slipstream 5000 : Ship/planes/futuristic racing game, really fun.

Pinball Fantasies / Pinball Dreams / Psycho Pinball : Kickasses pinball games.

Hocus Pocus : Fun 2d Plataform.

Jazz Jackrabbit : Imagine what would happen if Sonic (or mario, but more sonic) had a big ass gun to shoot shit. FUCKING A game, with a historic OST.

Commander Keen Series : Thereīs 6 of them, i think, but still the ones i played are really good, 2d plataformers.
Duke Nukem : the original ones are 2d plataformers, which sports a clever level design + nice atmosphere.

Death Rally : pseudo 3d game on the likes of Rock and Roll Racing, featuring Duke Nukem as one of the characters.

Leisure Suit Land Larry : Adventure, help Larry to get laid (number 5 in the series, is the best imho).

Day of Tentacle : Sequel to Maniac Mansion, and SO MUCH better imho. Get the CD version with talking characters, itīs actually a good gaming interpretation ?

Full Throttle : Lucasarts point and click, one of the best.

Sam & Max : Hit The Road : again, lucas arts and Point and Click.

Chuck Yeagerīs : WWII flight Sim. Really fun.

Crusader : No Remorse : pseudo 3d shooter/exploration.

Relentless : Little Bigīs Adventure Twinseen (i never knew the official name of this, but whatever it is, get it.) : this game kicks major ass.

Seek and Destroy : Top View Chopper game, rescue hostages, destroy targets, really fun to play.

One Must Fall 2097 - best shareware fighter ever, very nice career mode.

TFX - very fun to play if you switch off the ability of your plane to crash - you can go and shoot down your targets with your machine guns at Mach 3.

Privateer - very nice update to Elite (which I find too old for my tastes).

Star control II (The Ur-Quan masters) - now open source, great fun story.

Executioners - 2D brawler made by the makers of NESticle and Callus (Bloodlust software). Probably their first release ever, very politically incorrect. Shitty graphics and music but a interesting nonetheless.

Gobliiins, Gobliins 2, and Goblins 3 - weird puzzle games.

B.A.T. and B.A.T. 2 - French cyberpunk game that paved the way to Nomad Soul. Bit complex to grasp but has a very cool atmosphere.

Dreamweb - drark cyberpunk adventure game, short but a good play.

Bloodnet - cyberpunk RPG with vampires, very cool to play once.

Shadow of the Comet, Prisoner 0f Ice - Adventure games inspired by HP Lovecraft.

Just wanted to mention it's coolness if someone here had a GBA flash cart or would rather go that route if their PC is old enough DOSBox didn't run it so nice as a GBA emulator like NO$GBA has lesser spec requirements.

But yeah, if anyone has a gba with a flash card, itīs a good tip.
About computer power, i donīt think the requirements for Dosbox to emulate Pinball Dreams/Fantasies and a GBA emulator doesnīt differ that much.
But iīm not sure.

I remember playing the demo of Fantasies when it came out and loved it. It only had the Party Land table, but it hooked me. I think the demo had unlimited balls, but a 10 minute time limit.

I went back earlier this year and played Pinball Fantasies, as well as Pinball Dreams, but I didn't enjoy them as much. The table designs are still fantastic and realistic, but the physics for the ball movement is too far off. The ball feels very floaty and doesn't seem to have much weight behind it.

I *really* wish Midway would get on the ball and start making collections of their pinball titles for pc or consoles. I have been very impressed with the graphics and physics of the few pinball games that have come out in the last couple years, but the tables don't live up to real machines. PinMAME is good, but recreating them in 3D would be awesome.

There are too many cases where the ball ends up hitting an instant death corner, and the only way I know how to prevent that is to shake it like mad if the ball gets even close to those bottom corners. As soon as it locked the game up because of too much shaking I said "Fuck. That." I really dig the theme song though.

I just tried Pinball Challenge out, and it must have, hands down, the WORST music I've ever heard coming out of a gba. I wasn't sure it even was music. It sounded like a bunch of garbled sound effects and some static and popping sounds. Without a doubt the worst audio I've ever heard the gba produce. The music I got from the my soundblaster 16 in 1994 was a billion times better than this.

Agreed that table is sweet, but it's my second fav to Stones 'n Bones, and third would be the Billion Dollar Gameshow... car one blew. On the other package the wild west steam engine one is killer fun.

I agree, but I guess it's part nostalgia but also quite a bit so as the tables were just designed pretty damn well and have fun good payout.

Midway did...once, under the Williams name. I own it, bought it like 4 years ago for $10 at best buy. Williams Pinball Classics (budget tools Encore Software packaged it.) It has Creature From the Black Lagoon, Lost World (some 1960/70s table,) Black Rose, and Arabian Knights. The only one that fairly well blows is the pirate Black Rose table. The original table art is digitized in there, and all the music/sfx are however they are recreated whether running a rom, or copied the effects sounds sweet. The thing is very customizable with 3 difficulties, ball #, and even table angle height can be set too among other things. It's worth a theft off some torrent or if you can buy it for the $10 I got.

Best vertical shooter ever, one of the few I actually cared about. It's now freeware and there's an open Tyrian project which led to the release of Tyrian for the PSP, it just got released and I'm loving it!
