Never had a SMS, but some friends of mine did, and that's what we used to play.

I recall that I found the gamepad to be horrible, though. Maybe because I was comparing them to my C64 Albatros joysticks, which were totally awesome for the time being (and surely much more robust than nowaday's controllers):
