So, I got this Amiga 500+ with a bunch of working (don't ask me how) games, and I have like 4 or 5 old, unused CRT monitors from even older PCs. I would love to pump the Amiga video signal on one of those, so I would like to know if anybody of you has tried this already, and their mileage.
Here's some research I did:
1) I looked for the pinouts of the Amiga output and the VGA input, and here they are:
Gotta love russian sites. It looks like all the needed signals are there, assuming they are RGB and the respective GNDs, HSYNC and VSYNC.
2) Looking for a confirmation to my theories, I found this: http://www.programmersheaven.com/download/865/download.aspx
So it looks like some effort will be needed to invert the sync signals. Ok, I can do that stuff.
3) However, other sites see the problem differently: http://www.amigau.com/aig/vga.html
According to this page, it's not just a matter of signal polarity, but of scan rate, too. I may have one or two multisync CRTs that maybe will show "unsupported rate" instead of hissing and smoking if anything goes wrong.
Any experience/thought/knowledge you'd like to share? Everything is welcome. Even Goatse, if it carries useful info.
