Eternal Darkness is definitely good. Ikaruga, Metroid Prime 1 & 2, Luigi's Mansion, MGS: Twin Snakes, Viewtiful Joe 1 & 2, Rogue Leader are all pretty fun too.

Well then I have some opinions for you.

In the case of Metroid Prime, it's the best of the series, and if it weren't for RE4 I'd say it was flat out the best game on the Gamecube. Speaking of which you should pick up a copy of RE4 for Wii if you haven't already.

Aesthetically and story-wise, Metroid Prime will make you feel like you're playing Metroid and Super Metroid in 3D, whereas the other two in the series delve off into their own direction that kinda deviates too far from the essence of those games for my taste. They're fun but some of the art and characters aren't really cohesive with the whole Metroid experience in my opinion. The other bounty hunters in Metroid Prime 3 didn't make you feel like you were stranded on a desolate planet and had to fight your way out. The game also felt like it was slightly influenced by Halo presentation-wise, which is pretty weird to say. The fact that now Samus is depicted and referred to in some Master Chief kinda way and everything is full of american comic book cliches. It just makes me wince slightly.

The dark world of Metroid Prime 2 made me feel like I was playing the bastard child of Metroid Prime and Zelda: A Link to the Past. I'm sick of the whole dark world idea to be honest. It's pretty annoying to have to backtrack through two parallel worlds that affect each other just so you can remove one stupid obstacle in a really convoluted way. It makes it seem like more of a chore than an accomplishment, especially with the nature of the dark world early on where you have a time limit in how long you can stay in certain areas.

I just have to say, that I would have expected them to try take a lot more ideas from Metroid II: The Return of Samus for the Prime sequels and I'd be disappointed if I didn't just enjoy the core gameplay so much. It's just too bad the universe of MP2 & MP3 isn't as compelling as it was with Metroid, Metroid II, Super Metroid, or Metroid Prime.

I have the RE remake but couldn't stand playing it because everything improved except the controls/aiming. I can't really play a game where half the time you're backing away from the camera and shooting at something you don't even see. The limited inventory system in the game may work well to cause tension for some but it just annoys me.

Also that's why I like Twin Snakes. I couldn't stand playing MGS with the traditional aiming mode because you can't aim reliably. MGS really needs the precision aiming system of MGS2. The updated voice acting is actually worse than the original but it's definitely tolerable and I am fine with the altered cutscenes. I think some people who gave the game on the whole negative attention just did it because someone messed around with something they had nostalgia for, but that didn't happen with me because I found the original practically unplayable.
