Yeah, that's a hardware change, but I think Windows requires you to change either the CPU, Memory, or motherboard to trigger an invalidation. I could be wrong though.
Maybe it's with XP SP3, but I heard MS was relaxing the rules with some update where it would allow more changes without warning you, if you are running Windows XP. I don't think Vista would care. What are you running?
