My 24" Soyo LCD (DVI connection) doesn't turn on until XP has loaded and presented me with a button to log on, so I tried hooking up an old CRT via the VGA plug.
The problem? There was a corrupt file in the /windows/system directory. I booted from the XP Pro CD, ran the recovery console, and boom, the system is fine now.
One nice thing is that I found out my second PC3200 DIMM was bad. That explains why my system would reboot at times for no apparent reason.
