There are some crappy bosses out there and sometimes you can't do much but shut up and put up with it (esp. if the economy is shit like now). This type of person is not very receptive to suggestions unless they think it's their idea, but you can still try to make your life easier.

Maybe you could try to show the boss a hardware firewall and see if you can put that instead of the windows one (which is a piece of crap, never worked properly for me). And perhaps you've already done so, but you could try installing spybot or ad-aware (the free version) and set them to run often (just tell them it's an antivirus). Some PC sysadmins have apparently installed Firefox with an IE skin and a custom user agent, and their users (and webservers) are none the wiser.

It's not easy because a lot of people think the PC it's a magic box and their expectation are completely dissociated with reality. I've seen one user forward every mail they get to themselves to "back them up".. and end up with mailboxes of several GB...
