Found it in a store yesterday, bit overpriced but I thought I'd give it a try.

I don't expect much from it to be honest, just something a bit different in gameplay to try. I don't expect either many games coming out exclusively for the Wii Board, although maybe some Nintendo games will have mini-games in it.

No I mostly bought it instead of a new scale. Yes for the price I could have got a scale with bluetooth that sends my weight to my PC, but I didn't get the games or the Wii accessory with that.

I have only played it for 20 minutes so I don't know how fast the thing gets old. So far it's fun to try the different things, although some feel very stupid. You would rather be caught being an onanist than playing hula hoop.

Graphics are no worse (nor better) than Wii Sports or Wii Play.
Interestingly they don't focus too much on your weight, but rather the balance.
I guess it makes sense because you don't lose weight from exercise, contrary to popular belief (it helps, but not the main thing. Exercise is still good to be healthy in other ways).

Running in place is actually useful exercise if you do it often (it's part of the Hacker Diet). You can cheat but you're only cheating yourself, yoohoo phyrric victory.

It would be useful it there was a way to extract the weight data and analyze it.

The Hacker Diet has this interesting idea of applying some math to reduce the variation caused by the amount of water in your body. These variations can be very frustrating because they can easily add 5kg or more to your weight, so you diet for a week and find out you're heavier than when you started (and then you give up).

If you track your weight daily, around the same time (to reduce the chance of having a different quantity of water in you), then apply some math to extract the overall trend, you have a better chance of detecting slight increases or decreases in your weight - which are correlated to how much you ate. So you can see the results more clearly, which is more motivating, and so on. I haven't tried it yet but that's the theory at least.

Wii Fit is not going to make me lose weight, but maybe it can teach me some better habits (15 mins of moving around every day is better that none at all).
