That was a damn good port, i'm sure i still have it somewhere. I also picked up X-Men COTA ported by acclaim, and that was probably one of my worst purchases ever. It was ok when it worked, except that it never worked properly (tried it on 3 or 4 different PC's). Now that i think about it, all the other acclaim PC games never worked correctly. Alein trilogy was another. I'm glad they don't exist anymore.
I wonder why capcom > just have a deal with a PC studio where they do their games on PC and Capcom > does the PC games on console.
I'd say the PC ports are going to get better thanks to the success of the 360 in the US, since the architecture of that and the PC are similar. Due to the PS3's initial unpopularity in the US, they can't ignore the XBox anymore. Most of the other PC ports in the past were PS1 and PS2 games, so a direct port from an Xbox title should be a piece of cake.
Of course, even Microsoft did the port of Metal > Gear Solid to PC and it turned out horrible. >
I have that as well, and there wasn't anything special about it. I have MGS2 for the PC as well. It runs ok, but setting up the controls are a pain. Since it's a simple port, all of the video and control options are selected before the game starts. I think Konami must've ported it on there own.
