Atari Retro Remixed

Sometimes there are purists who will freak when games are remade/ported and some times people don’t care, but this pack is like a bunch of high school programmers were rushed to see if they could create a bunch of ports of classic games and get them released before retro gamers realized the games were so crappy that Pac Man on the 2600 started sounding fun.

How did they screw up? Lets discuss a few games listed.

Asteroids, looks horrible the remix version is on a level close to the 2600 version with slightly better graphics.

Centipede, do we need two screens for the game? It looks horrible on two screens. It’s crappy. I’d rather buy a $20 trackball and play it in MAME.

Missile Command, you get to wait until the enemies cross from the top of the screen to the middle before you can attack, and the touch pad controls suck.

Tempest, touch pad only? Who’s moronic idea was that? It ruined the game!

I can’t believe that I purchased this POS. I can’t believe I sunk $15 into this. I traded it towards Mario Kart Advance. It was much better.

For the Playstation 2 there was an SNK Classics and a couple Fatal Fury collections that I downloaded. Holy crap do these games look like... CRAP. The same high school programmers that wrote your Atari collection wrote all three of these games I obtained. These are the douchebags that have never heard of "perspective". The pixels are actually, well, I don't know what you call that shape but it ain't a square. The games run fine and whatnot but they totally ruined the visuals so I can't play 'em.

I'm currently to the point to where I'm wondering if I could get a small form factor PC, use an HDMI or DVI cable to connect it to my television and get it to display properly there so I can just play my favorite arcade games there since no one knows how to properly port video output on a damn console.

I'd not download them but stick with the MAME ROMs. I liked the PS2 versions, but they could have been better. The games were ok for the PS2 and I became more interested in the World Heroes 2 Jet game, and a few obscure Neo Geo games in the process.

Still I wish I could have picked up the SNK Arcade for $9.82 at Wal Mart instead of $19.99 at Electronics Boutique, $9.82 wasn't bad for 4 World Heroes games, IMSHO...
