Are you having trouble finding one that you can get sent to Canada? There's tons cheap on ebay and you can even get some of those "designer imposters" machines that will play original NES carts for around $25 USD (which is equivalent to 30 Canadian pesos). I tried one out at my local gamestore and it was NES-perfect.

Mine main NES is a clone, with a double-slot, so i can play US or JP carts without adapters and without any hassle.

And it was cheap, about Us$30,00, iirc.

...but it's gotta be a real NES. My kid REALLY wants an original NES for Christmas - I know the modified ones work better/are cooler, but I think he'd be disappointed if he opened up the box and didn't immediately recognize it. Used is fine, as long as it works, and is in decent shape. If someone can hook me up with one, I'll pay all costs/shipping/six pack of beer for you efforts/etc.
