If you're going to watch it, catch it on TV. DC's resident population is normally around 600,000; anywhere from two to four million people are expected to come into town for the inauguration. To put this in perspective, the total population during the work week (taking commuters into account) is usually only around one million.
I realise that's a really wide forecast, but even if 'only' the two million number is correct, getting in to, out of, or around DC is going to be a far worse hell than it usually is.
