SubjectNeed some help with DVD re-authoring... new Reply to this message

I've got a couple of movies I needed to make copies of for a patient at work, but the only app I have for that is DVD Shrink, but it seems the discs have some protection, since what i get is a squished screen, with the movie on the upper half and a flickering green bar on the bottom half.

Does anybody know of a program that can copy over that bullshit?

All work and no play makes me..., well, you know the rest.

Try decrypting the dvd with a program like (yeah i know its old) DVD decrypter first. Im not sure If you can even find that program anymore but there has to be something out there. Just make sure the VOB files you extract are playable, then you should be able to re-author the dvd fine. If the extracted VOB files play fine, and the re-authored dvd is messed up, then something is worng with dvd shrink.

try RZ Copy. It's the only one i know that can copy some protected disks. Go torrenting for a copy, since it's not a free program.
But it actually works.

DVD Shrink theoretically can copy and shrink DVDs, but in practice I just use it for shrinking.

DVDDecrypter v3.5.4.0 is my main tool of choice. It hasn't been updated in quite some time and in fact was bought by Macrovision Europe, so it's now a "legal" piece of software and copies of it on the net are "illegal" (just like Windows, Office, etc). You'll need to go in and change several of the defaults. A tutorial can be most helpful.

If DVDDecrypter doesn't work, I use a combo of AnyDVD and DVDFab Decrypter. These two together will let you copy Blu-Rays discs in addition to most every DVD available.
