I was in another city for a course yesterday and today, and when I got to hotel i heard the news.
I was checking a nerd-news site and since it wasn't official yet, I kept a tab on their tweets. The official announcement was:

"Michael Jackson is dead. 50 years old. King of pop. Gone to Neverland."

His music will always live on, shame his name will alwyas be linked to his freakish behavior and child molesting shannenigans.
