SubjectQuestion about usenet # of connections (Newshosting) new Reply to this message

Newshosting is always touting how many simultaneous connections you can have on your account. I run four threads, or whatever, in GrabIt so it grabs four separate files simultaneously. This really doesn't matter at all because it all gets to me at the same speed regardless.

My question is: if they allow so many connections does this mean I could share my account with someone?

Not likely. They will monitor IP addresses as well (Easynews does).

it means if you live in japan where they have 50mbit lines and faster, then it's usefull. Here, not likely

Maybe connections have max speed? Faster FIOS connections maybe max them out?

Anyways, it definately is not for using in multiple locations (multiple computers on one network... yes... but not multiple IPs). I have had my newsleecher account shut down before for using it while i was deployed and my wife using it at home.

I signed up to usenetserver a few years ago with some guys from work (5 or 6 of us) ... we've all been sharing the same account ever since! I've since left the company, and a few of us were downloading from home and work so there would have been a bunch of IP addresses...

We might just be lucky though.
