This may be an issue with the TV perhaps. I've seen the jagginess on some LCD models (Vizio for example), and on others it's butter smooth (Sony, Sceptre, and a couple others I can't recall at the moment). *shrug*

Generally it's supposed to be quieter, but it seems there are batches out there that can get louder that some would like. I have a launch unit and it's still disturbingly quieter than my 360, even after playing blu-rays for hours

PS3 Media Server might be worth looking into, easy to set up and the PS3 will eat whatever you throw at it.
