SubjectNew Mario Bros Wii new Reply to this message

I don't think I like this game at all. I had enough points on my credit card that I got this game "free", I was actually raped for several years straight to obtain those points, and I bought this game using the points.

New Mario Bros is just like playing an SNES Mario Brothers 3 game on the Wii. The graphics are mediocre, the music lame, and the gameplay doesn't feel fast enough. I guess I was expecting a Donkey Kong Country game.

I have played through the entire game, and for about 80% of the time I loved it. New suits allow for some change up on the actually dynamics and the 4 player at the same time was really cool too. I played through the whole game with my wife... so maybe that's a reason it wasn't how you saw it.

I would recommend the game to anyone, so I would have to disagree with everything you said... other then the fact that its a new age super mario brothers 3 from NES.

I don't think you could get more polished graphics out of a typical 2d side scroll-er (even though it had some 3d effects in it) so that doesn't make sense to me either... its not modern warfare... it wasn't made to be graphically amazing.

The game play was so fast for me that I would end up running my wife off the screen and killing her... again... no clue what your talking about... you sure you're playing the same game?

Something about you shouldn't play it with your spouse, unless you want a divorce! LOL ;)

It's like Super Mario 3 and that's bad, how? (asking O.P.)

I hope to get it next year!

Yeah good thing my wife can take the verbal abuse. I wanted to throw the controller at her a few times, but she realized that I was just upset at the moment and we got over it lol. I love this game and the SMB3-ishness of it.

I'm getting it as a gift so I can't just go buy it. It's cool to see so many of you game with your wives too.

My wife has played with me through Left for Dead 1 & 2, currently thorugh borderlands, and oddly enough a season of Arena Football (it's easier than Madden to her) and she is the quarrterback of FAU in NCAA 2010 on her own road to glory.

I yelled at her though during Gears of War 2 so she might not finish that one with me :)

However it would be nice to see some sort of feature that would let players make their own maps and share them online like Little Big Planet.

You play some stolen pirated beta because what you're writing isn't what the game looks, sounds, or plays like at all.

Sure it kind of is a cracked out SMB3/World setup, but that's the fucking point as it's Super Mario Bros 6 ultimately. For all the 2D I've seen for the system or 2D/3D mix which this is due to the modeling I've yet to see something so damn polished on the system. Audio, it's standard Mario fare, not like Galaxy as it's traditional and not a freaking orchestra and it's really more admirable for it. In the end the game really is the bastard child primarily of SMB3, 4, Yoshi's lame spinoff isle, and the original with a flavor of the DS game (blue mushroom and the wall kick/butt crusher jacked from Mario64.)

I will totally step up and say it has 2 flaws far as I'm concerned, one of them can get you fucked a bit...jerking the controller while in motion to pick up and toss or pick stuff up which is retarded. Secondly it's bad they more or less kept that fucked-up saving routine of the DS game, but at least you can hot save now so that's more of an annoyance.

Well 2D typically is more easy to digest than 3D for someone really young. I'd highly suggest SMB6 here this topic is about, but if he can hack 3D Galaxy is fantastic too. Klonoa is a VERY fantastic and underrated Wii title that got no love, and also from Namco too 'The Munchables' which someone his age or ours would love greatly. Beyond that I dunno as I don't get a lot of younger gauged 'all ages' stuff leaning in the direction of Spongebob and shit so I dunno.

finished in a couple days, loved the new suits.. got 100% on the first 3 worlds and beat the first 3 levels of world 9 (9-1 was harder than 9-2 or 9-3).. we haven't gotten back to it in a week or so though, but we plan on it. the control scheme is a bit wonky, and i wished i could have played with a gamecube controller. aside from that, a total blast, perfect for someone like me who no longer has the patience for most modern games.

I "play tested" it in Desmume and bought it for my 5-year old cousin for his birthday. We both loved it ;-)

Dolphin can pretty much play it full speed on my rig (C2Q 3.2ghz, HD4850, x64), although once I get some money I'm planning on buying a Wii just to play it well with the wiimote (well, to play it and Wind Waker from the GC).

Overall, I think they're both fantastic games and I'd recommend them to anyone.

You know I've wanted a crack at that program for a long time but I just don't have my ftp and so on connections I had in the 90s and earlier 00s so I still have yet to fuck around with GC downloads. :\

I had a friend visit me today, he wasn't able to stay, he just wanted to drop off a Christmas gift. I asked if he wanted me to open it now and he said yes, and lo and behold, it's the New Super Mario Bros for the Wii!

I was shocked. I didn't expect that for Christmas, I figured he might get me King of Fighters for the PSP.

Whoa, I'm shocked.

I think I'm on the 6th world and I'm trying to find the secret entrance to the warp. I just want to get it over with and beat the game then go back and get all the coins.

Well you're one up on me as I could give a fuck about the coins as they're just insultingly annoying and some are just placed in the move evil spots. I just want to enjoy the game, and the ONLY benefit to those damn coins ultimately is getting a dopey little star next to your save game icon (there's 6 total, and if you get the 'help guide' that costs you 1 already right there.)

I finished the game, then played it to get the "secret" levels, which IMSHO should have been required to get the "true" ending. After beating all 8 levels on the DS I haven't had much interest in getting every coin / finding the secret warps...

The problem with the coins is they're in some pretty unfair situations on a few where it's sheer timing crossed with luck to nail them without dying (as death=no collection.)

With World or even the re-releases of the older 3 on the GBA the coins were meant entirely just as optional bragging rights (gba) or a 1up (SMWorld) if you got all 5 in that ones case. They're not fun to grab in most cases, some you luck on by just poking about so it's not even rewarding in the least bit. So I am lightly tweaked off I know you get that star for 100% coins, but you also need SOME coins to buy more of the games story and that does make me mad.

Picked it up last night, played through World 1 twice: once with my girlfriend, and once solo. We had a blast. During the intro cutscene she said, "OMG, if I was high right now, I'd be TRIPPING BALLS." :^) But yeah, we think it's a fun game. The controls are mostly good, and the moves are intuitive (although I keep trying to make Yoshi poop out eggs). I just need more practice on wall jumping. Some of the little touches are nice, too, like dancing Koopa Troopas, and the Clu Clu Land music used throughout World 1.

There are a couple things I don't like about it. The biggest one is that sometimes when you bump the Wiimote, it'll think you shook it and make you do something stupid.

I don't know if any of you are watching the hint movies, but I laughed my ass off at Super Skills 1-3.
