Maybe the most beautiful film ever made. It's what George Lucas wished he could have done...And may try again to do in 10 years, who knows.

People say the story is a rehash, and really it kind of is (my wife said it reminded her a lot of Fern Gully) but if you see it in 3D, you can see where in 10 years all movies will be just like this.

It just seemed to reek of "Evil military (US) travels to foreign planet to spread evil...Almost a tired Sci Fi take on Iraq. I'm kind of tired of liberal Hollywood trying to preach anti US/military messages when many countries would kill citizens who mocked the government, i.e., China, Japan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, etc.

The new and improved King of Lamers 2003!

Whenever I see or hear that crap in a movie or on TV now, I quit watching. I'm here to be ENTERTAINED Hollywood, not to listen to your leftist propaganda.

Btw, I fell asleep in the theater about 10 minutes into the movie and was woken up by someone when I started to snore.

Well... You pretty much hit the nail on the head with that one. I just got back from seeing it, and rate it about a 6.5 on a scale of 10.

It's preachy.

It's friggin' long.

There are plot holes. Noticeable ones.

Some of the characters are direct copies of ones seen in other James Cameron films.

Overall the acting and directing are competent and if you like visual effects you'll enjoy this, but it's trying to be an epic and it just isn't. I really hope it doesn't get a sequel because I'm seriously over hearing about this movie for life.

Subjectlooks so overrated, ranked #25 on imdb Reply to this message

Seriously, I've heard tons of people saying the story isn't so good, yet it gets 8.9 on imdb sitting at #25, I mean, what the hell? Examples of other movies that ranked below that have a good story

- memento
- american history x
- forrest gump
- a clockwork orange
- the shining
- inglourious basterds
- slumdog millionnaire
- oldboy
- fargo
- the wrestler
- the big lebowski
- scarface
- casino

the list goes on

I'd be surprised to find it better than any of those with all the comments I've heard. I mean, it sounds like a tech demo or something.

I caught the 3-D version at a local theater. Yes the story is kind of weak but the visuals are amazing. If you see this you really need have to see the 3-D version. Also this is probably going to be one of the movies I'll get on Blu-ray to show friends and family what the Pioneer Kuro KRP-500m can do when I get it in a week.

'evil' americans have never killed anyone, lawl! fuck, i wish hollywood were actually liberal. americans don't know what liberalism is, anyway. curiously, it seems hollywood have some sort of alliance with massive corporations, and are bound to shareholder interests, something about profits[!?!]... but i digress... the real evil of this film is the message of whites as saviors- and the fact that it promotes spectacle, rather than intellecual exercise. whites ain't fixed shit. ever. not that it matters. it's hopeless. watch this. and 'the trap' or 'the corporation'... white has shit to do with it anymore. even without global warming, humanity is fucked. as far as i'm concerned our species always has been.. i'm an extremist, maybe. who cares? tell me any of us has hope as individuals anymore, and i'll tell you how ayn rand or some lobbyist has taught you to believe in an impossible dream.

tl;dr? humanity has failed, congrats- maybe when we're extinct something decent will come around ^_~
