SubjectMAME + Steering Wheel = help! new Reply to this message
Posted byTi-BOne

I can't seem to configure my steering wheel to work with MAME.

I tried regular MAME and MAME32UI, same results.

The game recognizes the inputs on the options.
But, it doesn't matter what side i turn the wheel, it always go right and if i turn just a little bit, it turns all the way.

Tried 3 games :
SMGP
Final Lap
Outrun

same results.
The wheel is a Genius USB Twinwheel, and is working fine with PC games such as GTR2 and LiveForSpeed.

The wheel is Joy#2, if that matters at all.
But like i said, mame is recognizing it, just not correctly.

Any ideas ?

Thanks in advance.

Isn't there an analog control that you can set your wheel axis to under the game specific controls menu in the tab menu? You might have to adjust the sensitivity too. I can't remember what menu that is under. Been a while since I used mame.

i go into Analog Controls

Set the Paddle to the steering wheel axis
and the pedal 1 and pedal 2 analog to the pedal axis.

but no matter how i set it..
the steering wheel pulls right, and the pedals seems all funky.. sometimes reversed, sometimes not..
really weird.

Is the emulated in-game calibration ok? Like if you try to play by keyboard it is fine? If its not, should be something in the service menu to calibrate it. Or i think if you delete an .ini for the game it resets the machine to never powered on state.

that represents the value of the steering input / axis control. I would look thru all the dip switches first.
