SubjectNastier DRM than Starforce? new Reply to this message

I found this on Steam, will anyone here buy games using this DRM?

http://www.reddit.com/r/gaming/comments/az4er/the_settlers_7_handson_dominate_your_enemies_and/

"In January 2010, Ubisoft announced the Online Services Platform, which requires customers to not only authenticate on the first game launch, but to remain online continually while playing, with the game even pausing if network connection is lost. This makes it impossible to play the game offline, to resell it, and means that should Ubisoft's servers go down, the game will be unplayable."

who is going to buy a game with those requirements? All this does is give the hackers more reason to crack it. I haven't been keeping up with copy protections but I remember that StarForce was difficult but not impossible to crack. Is there a more difficult one?

limited installs, made by the folks who made starforce, with a new name...

I wonder how long PC gamers will accept bending over and taking in the rear, and paying $60 to do so, plus when will this hit the consoles? Next generation perhaps?

Either way, I see myself retiring gaming altogether someday to just play the classic systems.

I quit playing the newer games years ago and haven't looked back. There are lots of classic games to be played that are lots of fun, don't cost $60 a pop, and don't require a manual to play. Remember years ago when I picked up that huge ROM collection on DVD? I've still only scratched the surface of the games in it.

Welcome to my world :^)

I've also enjoyed all the money I've saved by not buying those games. That's why I have dual 24" LCD monitors, quad core system, two laptops, hang out in Myrtle Beach a lot, etc. $60 a pop adds up over time.

I've bought my lastest guitar the same way.
Stop playing the newer games, and the new one that i actually wanna play, i usually can get it for pc anyway. But there aren't a lot, nowdays, i'm mainly playing GTRē and LFS online, and that's it.
