So I finally unwrapped Patapon 2 from Christmas to download today. They decided to release a box but with a voucher inside for a digital download. I haven't touched my PSP in months so I thought I'd give it shot.
I went to my computer to get the file, figuring it would be a simple thing. It's so complicated, I would take this back to the store right now if I hadn't open it already.
First you create an account. I am not on the PSN as I think the PS3 is pretty much a piece of crap. Since I spent $400(!!!) on it in 2007, there have been about 5 good games (Uncharted 1 & 2, Valkyria Chronicles, and MG Solid 4 and Little Big Plant are both just okayish). The rest is dreck like Devil May Cry 4 and other games better played on the 360.
But back to this. So now I need Media Go (an 80 meg file) just to complete my transaction. I get it, then run it, then need the new version of flash, get it, run it, log in, dig through the stores menus, get to the game, put in the redemption code, it tells me I need to update the Media Go, so I do closing every window as it requires to update, then I redo the entire process putting in the code again, and now it tells me after all this crap that I need to have the PSP here and connected via a usb cable, and not just the memory card in the SD slot like every other device known to man works.
SONY can eat me, I am so tried of their backwards my system doesn't work for the next 24 hours, catches-so-much-dust it's grey, looks like a colecovision, and a release library that makes Gamecube look great with it's two games a year cycles.
I will never buy another downloadble PSP game, maybe never another one period. And you can be damn sure the next go round, if there even is a PS4, I won't be buying one until they are $199...
