I guess I never thought that it's a developer thing more than hardware thing. But I still feel like they have done so much wrong that Sony is at least partly to blame by making the system too hard to program on.
Taking our PS2 backwards compatibility is a dick move though. I am still annoyed remembering the first time I put a PS2 game (I think it MLB Powers Pros 2) in my system and it didn't work.
Beta release for full price got accepted somehow, but then here we are with what 30% failure rates and random freeze/lockups for systems as the norm anymore.
It sucks to think that in 10 years my NES will still work, my Atari will still work, but I seriously doubt anything else will. Maybe the Wii...they will probably still be compatible with the next gen Nintendo stuff :)
